Rams finish fourth in six-team round robin tourney in Pella

The Greene County Rams varsity volleyball team played against some of Iowa’s best teams at the Pella tournament Oct. 8 and went 2-3 in matches and 4-6 in sets.

The Rams played the Class 4A Number 1 rated Little Dutch of Pella High School and lost 15-21, 13-21. The 28 points was the most scored against the host Dutch all day. Coach Donna Carhill credited her team, saying the girls “played right with the highly rated 4A Pella team.”

Scores against 4A Number 10 rated ADM (Adel) were 17-21, 19-21. Against Class 2A Number 12 rated Mediapolis the Rams lost 12-21, 17-21.

Against unrated teams the Rams topped Heart of Iowa Activities foe PCM (Monroe) 21-6 and 21-15, and they beat Knoxville 21-12, 21-15.

Megan Durbin served 34 of 40 with five aces. She added 24 kills and 40 digs. Emily Heupel served 37 of 40 with four aces. Hannah Promes served 26 of 29 with three aces and had 72 assists.

Nadia Fisher had 30 kills and Kenna Marquardt had 31 digs.

In the round robin tournament Pella was 5-0 and won the tournament. Mediapolis was 4-1, ADM was 3-2, Greene County was 2-3, Knoxville was 1-4 and PCM was 0-5.
